 LIKELIHOOD, Meet ACRONYM

It is with great pleasure that we welcome ACRONYM to the LIKELIHOOD family, a brand with a rich history in functionality and highly regarded by the entirety of streetwear and fashion.

ACRONYM at Likelihood

Touted by many as the parent brand of techwear, Acronym’s meteoric rise to household name in the fashion industry began nearly three decades ago, in 1994. Creators Errolson Hugh & Michaela Sachenbacher created the label out of a mutual goal to bring hyperfunction to life, a proposal rejected time and time again until the two decided to create it themselves. The brand began as a design agency, starting with a 2002 Burton collaboration that gave a glimpse into its versatility and featured a jacket along with bags, catalogs, and a curated soundtrack.

This first Acronym capsule immediately turned heads, namely the Analog MD Clone Jacket, which made Time magazine’s Coolest Inventions of 2002 shortlist. Along with its commercial acclaim, early product lines made the brand’s inspiration unmistakably apparent. Much of their influence is derived from Errolson Hugh’s love of karate, specifically the functionality of the karategis he had been training in since the age of 10. For Hugh, the most enticing factor of this martial arts uniform is the freedom of movement it allows, an idea carried forth in all of Acronym’s collections to date.

While they have operated with little-to-no advertising since their beginning, the marks left by the brand throughout fashion and streetwear have reached an all-time high in recent years: creator Errolson Hugh was enlisted by Nike’s All Conditions Gear (ACG) design team to oversee its resurgence--and it’s no wonder the brand has hit its peak popularity in the time since. Their work with Nike doesn’t halt there however, as the brand’s number of sneaker collaborations have reached the forefront of sneaker culture and the streetwear community.

ACRONYM at LIKELIHOOD

To our great excitement at LIKELIHOOD, we are happy to reveal some of the highly coveted pieces hitting our store soon. Firstly, the J16-GT. An improvement on the PCU Level 5 uniform jacket, the piece contains an immeasurable amount of functionalities. To name a few, it’s constructed with Gore-Tex Pro, contains a removable Storm Hood, external mounts, along with technology created to accommodate audio electronics. The brand’s choice of materials make for a rugged yet breathable work of art, fully waterproofed and wind-resistant.

The second half of our first delivery is perhaps even more akin to ACRONYM: the NG64-PS. Touted as the “baddest neck gaiter of all time,” its ergonomic design covers up to the nose and around the ears when zipped, and creates a tactical, scarf-like accessory when left unzipped. The piece is constructed from Polartec’s reliable Powerstretch fabric, a comfortable and versatile choice by the brand.
