Pronounced “Eighties,” creators Jonathan Hirschfield and Max Schiller formed Eytys intentionally spelled with Y’s as a nod to generation Y--the time frame that represents their source of inspiration. Drawing from time spent watching MTV, the pair had spent years looking for sneakers and apparel they felt represented themselves and the outlandish designs of the 90s, until they took matters into their own hands in 2013. The brand’s first silhouette, dubbed the “Mother,” contained a chunky sole with an understated upper, arriving to massive acclaim by the brand’s peers. Since then, their sneakers have become increasingly unique over time, most recently peaking at the “Fugu,” a reptilian design merging 70s running shoes with millennial car racing shoes.
